Having weathered the pandemic storm, the city was slowly awakening to the return of international travellers, ready to share its stories and beauty once more. This visit was not only about witnessing the sunrise over the iconic temples but also about supporting the local communities eager to welcome back visitors and breathe life into their businesses once again.

Siem Reap has evolved from a cluster of small villages along the Siem Reap River into a vibrant city. Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit is from November to February during the cooler, dry season. We stayed in July, which is extremely hot, with temperatures above 38ºC. Though this is peak tourist season, the weather is more conducive to exploring the vast temple complexes.
Getting Around: Renting a bicycle, e-bike, or motorbike is an eco-friendly way to explore the temples at your own pace. Consider hiring a tuk-tuk with a driver for the day or booking guided tours for comfort.
Temple Passes: Purchase the Angkor Pass, available for 1-day ($37), 3-day ($62), and 7-day ($72) durations. The multi-day passes do not need to be used on consecutive days but within a specified week or month.
Dress Code: Dress respectfully when visiting the temples. Shoulders and knees should be covered. Comfortable footwear is a must, as there will be a lot of walking.
Start Early: Begin your day early to witness the breathtaking sunrise at Angkor Wat and to beat the heat and crowds.
Stay Hydrated and Protected: The Cambodian climate can be scorching and humid. Pack water, sunscreen, and a hat to protect against the sun.
